I feel that this type of "hero's story" is inherently compelling, as the greater issues in real life often stem from unseen sources, much like in this scenario.
He undoubtedly saved the world, but at what cost? The world knows him merely as their "hero." It would be wonderful if he already had a life partner, but if not, even if he desires one, almost everyone would fail to see him as a "normal human capable of making mistakes," which, to me, is the "bare minimum" for a life partner..
