After reading so much manga, this one makes me think something completely different is going on.

My headcanon is that the gyaru is a bit of a yandere/has a crush on him, saw the MC put the letter in the other girl's locker, stole it, and lied to the MC. The other girl doesn't even know about the letter.

The page where she drags him is beyond clever. Only someone with a crush would notice all that.
Yup, I was going to point this out. The things she pointed out were very minor things that could easily be changed, and someone could only notice all of that if she was observing him for a while. She was playing tsundere though. It's also the reason why the moment she got hugged, she didn't play flabbergasted or anything, it's like she was wishing for this the whole time, hoping he'd reciprocate without her having to tell him outright.

One can also see her grabbing her skirt when handing over her friend's letter. Thats typically something done outta anxiousness, reluctance, or pain. She didnt wanna give our boy up.

Goddang this is such a good oneshot... 🥰

this is the one oneshot manga that made me feel the love he had and the emotions he felt, the story was so good that you can feel the emotions of the main character

We get peak writing like this that only gets a oneshot while rent a girlfriend manages to go on for over 400 chapters...

It's a cruel world we live in....

This is some damn fine tsundere action, great girl. Love that the MC actually improves himself too. You rarely see that.

this is still a classic. A shame the mangaka (Miyokawa Masaru) never really did much beyond this, just a 1-volume series in 2014, and a 4-volume series in 2019 is the most recent.

talk about diverging paths: in 2011, Miyokawa did the art on a WSJ series ST&RS that didn't make much of a splash, but the writer for that series, Takeuchi Ryosuke, went on to write All You Need Is Kill, and then Moriarty the Patriot.
