Too much drama and text just for one turn of event. Author keeps forgetting some skill and ability make it a whole new plothole everytime an arc finished

Looks like there's a few changes from the 1090 chapter WN version on NovelUpdates, which isn't a bad thing. The manhua cut out an apparently under-utilized genderbender element which would complicate the worldbuilding if it replaced or preceded Pelo and her family, so the manhua is at least streamlined of some repetitive narration insisting it's masculine.

While the romance might go beyond a crush and subtext eventually it seems like it's so minor an element it's barely worth mentioning unless the manhua changes that too. Pelo and Queen Victoria are very cute as sisters in a mei/jie relationship, and I don't see the MC maturing fast enough to make something more romantic out of her attraction unless there's a timeskip. No romance with any other girls yet.

The pace is fairly fast, and it's well-planned, but the twists aren't very surprising and it's not as introspective about monstrosity nor critical of authority as it pretends to be. It's an okay action story other than some of the rare fanservice being pointless, and how hypocritical the story comes off about mass murder. MC is set up to suffer a lot, hopefully she stays a good person and Victoria survives too.

Since I can't edit my year old post above, I'll be brief. Great generic art, story gets weaker, no real yuri but who knows if it continues. I'll read for the tone but it's got one of the kinds of villains I hate most, and is pretty popular in Chinese media: mass murdering/torturing villain who hero wanted vengeance on is VICTORIOUS and is framed as necessary evil... so my reaction by halfway was "oh, it's one of those". A season 2 could nudge that but honestly, I wouldn't expect by enough to feel like justice or prove the idea wrong. Maybe? But S1's end is genuinely a trend, and a complete story.

For perspective if you didn't read the spoiler the problem is as trendy as western plots where 'the villain kinda has a point, must be defeated or destroyed, and it's a happy ending when the good guys slightly compromise or feel a bit sad about it'. Similar kind of cultural baggage shaping what tropes are popular. One is about autocracy being good, the other about systemic change being too dangerous.

Super irritating.

since this is marked as done, i doubt it'll get more chapters. As it is, it's frankly mediocre. The story's fine, the art is fine, the worldbuilding is fine; everything feels middling. The only real gripe with this that I have is that
the pope's an asshole who justifies mass muder, and manipulates peipei the entire time,
but other than that the story's just fine. The romance tag is a strange addition, though, and should either have a gl tag included if the LN takes it that way or be removed outright; if where it is right now is indeed the terminus for this manwha, as it seems to be, then there is no romance to be seen. If there's yuri, there is more potential buildup to that and as such it's probably fine to keep, but it should be elaborated on.
TLDR: It's fine. Mostly mindless, frankly. Tugs on the heartstrings sometimes, has pretty good pacing, the art's rather good. For all that the concept is cool, it's handled in a way that ends up somewhat unmemorable. Also, this is not a romance, and if it is it's yuri and barely anything happens to that effect. Give it a shot if you've got a day to waste; I'll probably read the LN at some point, and may report back. who knows.
