In all fairness, they were more concerned with getting across as quickly as possible so snipers didn't become an issue. Not that it went well, but it was a split second decision in order to not let them gain an overwhelming advantage.

Bird guy here is another unique race type, a sorta cockatrice.

His skill is sound-based (so normal 'lift shield to block' doesn't work against it)
But the sound is so weak that very basic ear block will prevent it.

Crim either realized this or just bluff it by blocking her ears, the guy thinking 'but now you've got no hands to attack!'
He got a taste of Crim's thigh blocking his face before getting killed.
(and Crim proceed to solo the rest of his group before the others got out of water)

Anyway since the match was broadcasted eventually more people realize his gimmick + the weakness of his race so he basically got hard countered and his group rank plummet.
