And there we have it.
While I might have gotten some details wrong, I knew Tamaki was behind these incidents. Her owning that laser pointer and her odd posture in the first incident made me zero in on her. I never considered dry ice as the cause of one of the incidents—talk about thinking outside the box.
The first incident was incredibly risky to pull off. Nine witnesses and a camera were trained on Tamaki, and she tried to set that fire? One wrong move, and her entire plan would have been botched. Well, since it was the first incident, she could have played it off as a harmless prank if she was caught early.
As for the case itself, it’s alright. It’s just a promo case for the upcoming movie (which I hope will make Kogoro look amazing). I do wish there had been more interactions between the Detective Boys and the Nagano trio. They didn’t interact much, and if they did, most of the interactions were directed at Yui. We did get a cute moment of Haibara teasing Yui, which was hilarious to see.
For a Nagano case, it’s relatively lighthearted compared to previous ones like the Kawanakajima case or the Red Wall case. At least no one died, and for crimes caused by misunderstandings, that’s the best outcome. I always get so frustrated when culprits murder multiple people, only for their friends, the police, or Conan to reveal the truth at the end. " We didn't tell you what really happened because the person you tried to avenge wanted to keep it a secret." Like, seriously??? When the culprit starts wailing over their ruinous mistakes, I can’t feel any remorse at all.
Also, thank you, Black Tea Translations, for clarifying the Japanese wordplay on the compass part. I had no clue what Takehiko was talking about when he mentioned the "Pa turns to C" part.
For the next case, I hope Sera and Mary are in it. I want the plot of them trying to steal Conan's antidote to be resolved—either with them successfully doing it or Conan actually interacting with Mary and laying down some boundaries.
If not, another case with Rumi would be nice. For a late-introduced character, she’s my top five favorite characters for how dangerous and unpredictable she is. I’m not sure how Gosho will resolve her story, but hopefully, it will be her taking down Rum.
