And there we have it.

While I might have gotten some details wrong, I knew Tamaki was behind these incidents. Her owning that laser pointer and her odd posture in the first incident made me zero in on her. I never considered dry ice as the cause of one of the incidents—talk about thinking outside the box.

The first incident was incredibly risky to pull off. Nine witnesses and a camera were trained on Tamaki, and she tried to set that fire? One wrong move, and her entire plan would have been botched. Well, since it was the first incident, she could have played it off as a harmless prank if she was caught early.

As for the case itself, it’s alright. It’s just a promo case for the upcoming movie (which I hope will make Kogoro look amazing). I do wish there had been more interactions between the Detective Boys and the Nagano trio. They didn’t interact much, and if they did, most of the interactions were directed at Yui. We did get a cute moment of Haibara teasing Yui, which was hilarious to see.

For a Nagano case, it’s relatively lighthearted compared to previous ones like the Kawanakajima case or the Red Wall case. At least no one died, and for crimes caused by misunderstandings, that’s the best outcome. I always get so frustrated when culprits murder multiple people, only for their friends, the police, or Conan to reveal the truth at the end. " We didn't tell you what really happened because the person you tried to avenge wanted to keep it a secret." Like, seriously??? When the culprit starts wailing over their ruinous mistakes, I can’t feel any remorse at all.

Also, thank you, Black Tea Translations, for clarifying the Japanese wordplay on the compass part. I had no clue what Takehiko was talking about when he mentioned the "Pa turns to C" part.

For the next case, I hope Sera and Mary are in it. I want the plot of them trying to steal Conan's antidote to be resolved—either with them successfully doing it or Conan actually interacting with Mary and laying down some boundaries.

If not, another case with Rumi would be nice. For a late-introduced character, she’s my top five favorite characters for how dangerous and unpredictable she is. I’m not sure how Gosho will resolve her story, but hopefully, it will be her taking down Rum.

For some reason it always amuses me when the mystery is just, like, 3 children's science experiments. And now we had two cases back to back.

Well, it was a nice case. Hope the next one is dealing with overarching plot, or at least a really bloody murder.

So much effort put to research and execute murder plan and yet zero effort put to check if the motivation is even justified. I sometime feels in this kind of cases, if they let the culprit go, sooner or later they're gonna plan a murder again for some other misunderstanding.

Culprit Hanzawa parodies this, he and other culprits get homicidal ideas for just about any minor conflict. :D

The tricks are one thing, but it's a little disconcerting that the outline of the narrative, right down to the misunderstanding of the current culprit for a motive and recovery of the "supposed previous-case culprit", is something that has been exactly shown in another case in this series. I don't remember which one but I'm sure someone else will be able to point to it like an encyclopedia.

What's the point of the Nagano trio then? I thought this case would give some info on the main plot to justify it being longer than 3 chapters.

Oh yeah, another filler case where nothing happens, just to promote your fucking movie... 🙄

I'm really curiose about the manga sales, like how long can people tolarate this shit? The last 9 years Gosho couldn't produce a single mildly interasting case, and the I can hardly remember the plotlines that were interasting but got shelved...

This sould have been ended at it's peak, not draged out like this.

Movie profits keep breaking records, so I can't see them stopping those any time soon, but if they conclude manga (and presumably not on some evil cliffhanger), then they would either need to keep doing flashbacks or never do a BO plot again, which would leave them very limited on what they can write that would be interesting. So that's probably why the manga keeps getting stretched to infinity with cases like these. Gosho's advancing age is now probably the only thing that could bring the series to a close.

BO focused volumes sale less in Japan than normal volumes.
Only occidental so-called fans are obsessed with the Black Organization (spoiler : most Japanese don't even know there's a plot).
