The first kanji in Kuriyama means chestnut, and Maron sounds like marron, a type of chestnut.

Remember it's not that he's incompetent, it's just that most of the cases they run into are so convoluted that no normal person could solve them. Like many cases have involved a Rube Goldberg machine that either killed the victim or locked the room they're in.

Kuri means chestnut. In Japanese it's common to call chestnuts "maron", which is the Japanese spelling of marron, the French name of a kind of chestnut. A marron is a different kind from the "kuri" chestnut, but people just lump them together.

@Black_Tea_Translations Can you guys fix the money numbers in the chapter? You're switching between 100000 and 100 million constantly. I believe it should be 100 million, since the bag is full of 10k yen bills, so 100k would be too little, just 10 bills and that wouldn't be a bagfull no?
