It vaguely made sense to let him stay for the last murder but there is no reason for him to be involved in this one?? The police should have removed him from the area already not let him into the apartment??

Doesn't Wakasa sometimes set off Ai's BO sense? So maybe she's the one who the Detective Boys ran into, and the resulting conversation led her to go check out the apartment. Either way, serious plot is finally unfolding!!
