I don't believe I remember where Vermouth labeled Conan as "cool guy" I thought that was only a nickname Jodie gave him? Of course that part with Vermouth typing and throwing the arrow at the picture takes place after the events we will soon see but my initial question still leaves me in a bit of a disarray. I'll probably have my answer after I finish this reread.

Spoiler: Up to Halloween case

Jodie was the one who copied Vermouth in calling Conan as "cool guy". Jodie only used guy the first time, then she started using "cool kid".
In the Halloween case, she asked Vermouth why "cool guy" when Conan is just a kid.

Now, the reason for Vermouth using "cool guy" is because she knew Conan is Shinichi. She called Shinichi that because he helped her during the New York case when she disguised herself.
