For a case created to highlight Ran's "noble heart" in her friendship with Sonoko, it's not very convincing lmao.

Just like the three people in this case, they did not directly ask Haruka for money, but just enjoyed the various material conditions provided by Haruka, such as traveling in luxury cars, being fed delicious food, traveling around, entering and leaving high-end places, and taking advantage of the opportunity to get to know people who they would not have the chance to meet before...
Which......is also what Ran sometimes get from Sonoko?

The only difference is that Sonoko is a real rich girl, and these expenses are a drop in the bucket for her, not worth mentioning, and Ran's heart is not as straightforwardly ugly as these three people, but if Aoyama want to highlight how noble Ran is, then I think it still does not meet the conditions, after all, Ran really enjoyed these benefits.

You know, it's getting annoying for me to reread chapters only to find idiotic comments like yours without an ounce of self-awareness and retrospect, because the comment creator is so arrogant yet forgetful that she can't remember the details of the manga she's reading. So this is a reply from another female reader for having issues with you the commentator.

1. Those sorry-excuse-of-being-called-friends people pressure the culprit into accommodating them with cars, money budget for trips and clubbing, etc. because they fully know she is a pushover who desperately wants to keep up the appearance of a rich girl and is living paycheck-to-paycheck to keep them around as "friends". In Japan, being insecure about one's image is a real thing and can ruin one's social life. This girl is just a country girl who lives far from home and desperately wants to be surrounded by friends and these so-called friends keep EXPLOITING her after her secret is known. If you are cool with that kind of pretentious "friendship" bonding, it's much more telling about who you are as a person. Then again, your past comments already had plenty of hints to show me.

2. You clearly have issues with Ran and ignore or disregard anything else, when the past details contradict a lot of your beliefs. For example, you stated in another thread that she can't keep secrets, just like normal highschoolers. But the case about Shinichi solving the murder during the play of their school festival already proved you wrong. Need a reminder? it's from volume 26, and it's a request from Shinichi himself. Conan/Shinichi has never said that the reason he couldn't tell Ran his secret was because Ran was terrible at keeping secrets. There are plenty of chapters showing that she hides her doubts and insecurities very well and can put on a brave front daily in order to not worry others. See chapter 6 for the very first example of how Ran acts daily and how it makes a stark contrast with the end of chapter 9. All in one single case. Want another reminder? Read the Bloody Valentine case from volume 33. The reason he can't tell her is because she will cry a lot and takes the pain of others as her own, and DUH Conan/Shinichi obviously doesn't want to see her getting hurt anymore if he can afford the chance. Every time Ran cries, Conan/Shinichi always stands there helplessly because he can't stop those tears since that's who Ran is as a person and as someone he holds dearly in his heart. Ffs in volume 18 a younger Shinichi gave the confession that he likes Ran because she is quick to move to tears and emotional yet strong-willed and stubborn. The one that insinuates that Ran can't keep secrets is Haibara but the Vermouth arc spectacularly proved her wrong.

3. Sonoko and Ran frequently hang out in normal places (karaoke, public malls, ramen restaurants, crowded tourist spots like Kyougoku's place, etc.) and those are affordable for a normal girl like Ran with allowance from the parents being a prolific lawyer and a famous detective. Even when Sonoko lends her a favor like meeting some famous band members (because both of them are fans) or good seats for a TV program, Ran still has to ask Kogorou to chaperone her and Sonoko. In many cases, Kogorou is the main guest and Ran+Conan merely tag along. When two of them travel on Sonoko's whim to catfish 'commoners', Ran is Sonoko's bodyguard. Not only you miss the entire message of this case on money and fake friendship but you also forgot the details of other trips. In Kyougoku's debut case, Sonoko is so afraid of being alone with a stranger that she can't help but sticking to Ran despite how much she ranted about being ignored by other men earlier. The cases with the magicians' gathering and Bloody Valentine are the same. Sonoko wants Ran to tag along with her because Ran is her source of comfort and assurance and is her childhood best friend. That doesn't mean both of them aren't in danger. Ran is the first to be targeted with the Bloody bandage man case, and a few volumes later it's Sonoko's turn. So I don't know where you get the impression that "Ran is taking advantage of Sonoko's money and enjoys it" from. For the record, I don't watch the anime and I have no intention of treating the movies as canon events, so any of those fillers mentioned will be disregarded.
