But that's what this series has been like for at least the past five or even ten years... the cases just don't sound natural anymore, and there are times when even the characters themselves seem to be aware they're just building some sort of deduction game for the reader to take part in.

At the start, this series felt like an actual story with real characters that just happened to be divided into 3-5 chapter long cases... now it feels like a series of fun quizzes for the reader that just happens to feature the same characters over and over again.

So the victim was a stupid person... Why would someone run from a person in a wheelchair who just shot the one arrow on their crossbow? Those are not easy to reload. Also, why not scream for help on the spot? He didn't scream even from the pain when getting shot? Also, there's this thing in phones called "silent mode", he could had even disable the vibration, there's no need to turn the damn thing off.
