There is one possibility - man in armor (page 12) is Sparda himself.
This was a vision, a flashback.
Whenever this is true - this is rare image of Sparda without helmet.

The man in the armor is Nelo Angelo from DMC1. V's having severe PTSD at realizing Trish (the spitting image of his mother) was transformed into a mindless demon knight just like he was, and by his own demonic side's hand at that.
