As much as I like to see classic Dante, the artist drew him with the wrong sword.

I think that may be Rebellion, rather than the Alastor. Rebellion is the more familiar sword used by Dante throughout the game series, so the artist was probably aiming for that and to not confuse too many people with another weapon on his back. Plus, his look in the nightmare is a mix of his DMC3 and DMC1 looks for good measure. Probably symbolic

Onto the chapter, the spark was lit for V... It's the truth that as a human, his strength was subpar but it's still so cruel to have that rubbed on your face...

The sword is Rebellion. I'm just speaking more to how the artist chose to not to depict Dante using either Alastor or Force Edge as he would have been using those swords during the events of DMC 1, something which would have been witnessed by Vergil during his time as Nelo Angelo.

One of my favorite things about DMC is that we finally have a canon explanation for why Ebony and Ivory are engraved with "For Tony Redgrave".
