I mean, didn’t Vergil win their first fight in dmc3? Not to mention that was the clear cut win they’ve had in the game. Vergil didn’t look very tired and didn’t looked half dead before the rebellion unlocked (which apparently helps its user when they’re stabbed by it; in which case Dante would have been out of commission for the game is Vergil just didn’t stab him with rebellion at the end of their fight). Their last fight was much closer and Vergil just barely lost. I wouldn’t count any if dmc 1, but those were multiple encounters as well and the hardest fight for Dante excluding mundus (which is pretty good considering Vergil was literally not in his right mind). Plus he literally just saw Urizen kick Dante’s ass stupid easily. And I thought I read somewhere as kids Vergil always won their fights (at the very least they were close and victory went back and forth). All this is to say, I’m happy that V is doing some reflection, but this is coming from left field. There isn’t much evidence for the claim that V is seriously lacking something Dante has. In fact I’d say there’s more evidence that both of them are lacking something the other has (which we see in 5; Dante accepts his humanity, but not demonic side as much and doesn’t have balance within himself yada yada yada; Vergil is the opposite and sees his humanity as weaker than demonic side and also doesn’t have inner balance which holds them both back until they see both sides as equal and merge them) as their victories go back and forth. That seems like an actual logical and reasonable conclusion to come to given their history and the facts. What V came up with seems like something he should only after an observation when Dante unlocks his sin DT and starts stomping Urizen (much later in the game and over a month from now). This feels like kinda forced early realization
