MC is acting like an idiot. Her father is likely the one pushing for breaking the engagement and the lackey is more likely talking about his own delusions without checking her feelings. Ten to one Qiu took a fancy to her and is pressuring her despite her objections. If she really wanted to break up with MC she'd have written and sent a letter at least, and more likely have come herself to ask and apologize in person. Consider character shown in MC's memories she doesn't seem the type to consider a person's cultivation and status over personality. Would be really funny if she shows up in disguise and starts beating up the MC for breaking the engagement.
Btw, it might just be me but she looks a lot like the MC's wife shown before he went over the cliff. Might be coincidence although can't say that there isn't a chance after finding out what happened jumped off the same spot on the cliff and merged into Wei Shung too. Well, will find out eventually if wife did anything drastic and Shung's reaction to the engagement being broken.
@Willie29 It's not true. However, until she shows up in the story can't say whether she really is for or against the breakup. Considering her personality she's probably against and being pressured by her father and Qiu who are completely ignoring or downplaying her thoughts and feelings on the matter. Likely they want her to act like a trophy wife who looks good, does what is told, and only thinks of how to accomplish her father's/husband's orders like a good doll. Hopefully she shows up after finding out and gives the MC a beating for breaking her heart.
