Yeah, I thought it had too. Seems like it even happened right in between chapters in this latest posted volume as well, that's what threw me the most. The timeskip really caught me off guard, I thought I had skipped a volume or something.
I'm not keeping up with this manga very thoroughly but it is the sort of thing I like to see more of. Thanks, Hi Wa Mata, for putting something adult-oriented, but refined rather than very violent or vulgar, on mangadex.
There's a lot of sex, yeah, but I wouldn't say it's vulgar, again from what I've read. The sex is relatively tastefully depicted with the women, while attractive, at least looking reasonably realistic for a manga. By 'vulgarity' I refer to the typical ecchi manga, where balloon-breasted naifs say either ridiculous or vaguely uncomfortable stock "orgasm" lines while the everyman (nobody) hero rails them with all the passion of a meticulously-programmed automatic laundry machine. The first two chapters in this volume were released/take place in 1995, the third was in 1996, then everything past that was in 1999. Originally Shima had sort of ended after Section Chief and everything past that were sort of bonus "what's he up to now" chapters, but then Hirokane-sensei decided to continue it as a regular series in 1999. (Though there are a few random non-canon Shima things that were compiled in a book called Shima Kousaku noYuuga na Ichinichi) So it feels like a bunch of quick timeskips, but after this point there aren't any really.
I'm glad you like it, though you really should read it. Also I'm not so sure if it's free of violence or vulgarity. They're kinda rare but there's a few very violent moments. Also it's full of sex scenes.

Personally I think this is a case where it's not a problem. Sure, you know that Shima is going to keep getting promoted but seeing how he gets there and what happens when he does is what's interesting. Like you know, just based on the fact that the series is still running, that even though Shima was going to be able to save his job and get Tomabechi ousted the particulars of how that happens are still interesting, even if you know what the eventual outcome is.My only complaint about that is the titles of the later series kinda spoil the future plot a little bit.
Godspeed with the series!
AgreedI think the worst was when heLike, bro. Come on.was upset his wife was cheating on him while he was in New York, but straight up had a kid with Irene.
Him being a flawed protagonist helps the realism of the series though, I think.
