I disagree boldmonkey. If you are unrealistically honest/straightforward/blunt as this MC, you would be super popular in middle-highschool. It's so unrealistic in the sense that nobody is that blunt. People befriend others easier if they feel they are not trying to hide stuff. MC would be super popular with both genders. Everybody wants to be friends with a kind, honest, confident person.

Unrelated, sociopaths in real life try to copy this type of persona. They put on a mask and pretend being charismatic and confident. If you are naturally this way, you are bound to have a lot of friends.
