to be FAIR, I wondered if somehow Shorty would be one of those "women hiding themselves dressing as men". Not that it would make much sense to do so in a setting where men jobs are the worst and most punishing though. Nope, BL through and through.

I don't think so. Yes, you could call it wasted potential. But then such mangas get AXED all the time due to poor sales, author struggles and so on. At least "gooner bait" mangas have a better chance at surviving due to capitalizing and serving the beasts.

my bet is that they are going to use boigirl (aka Shorty) to fuel the MC for whatever purpose they deem fit. What IS that motive, that's still not entirely clear.
