Think it would be manageable. He has coworkers that occupy the desk right next to him, so as long as he kept his family separate from his work or adventurering, he shouldn't have much difficulty.

On the other hand, the curse might manifest in other ways. Like rather then lucky finds of food and artifice, he keeps getting food poisoning and getting robbed/mugged. Who knows.
