To be fair, there isn't that much you can improve on the aerodynamical design of modern fighters.

Well,the problem is the things above a Gen 4+++ combat aircraft(Gen 1 is pistons,Gen 2 is jets,Gen 3 is missiles,Gen 4 is Fly By Wire)are Gen 5s(stealth),but above that?...

Quite a few things one could conceive for a Gen 6,but as this comic has more or less established,a motherhumping big bore revolver and current era drone design is still good enough and common place.

So unless Japan itself really needed to take on someone,just refurbishing F-15s(plus the other stuff)for all those years into Gen 4++++++ with Ace Combat style attachments would be good enough,and the usual gun plus missiles would still work regardless.

Unless,of course,those bad boys are hiding something extra.

1st gen, being jet powered at all (Me-262, P-80).
2nd gen, supersonic capability and swept wing (MiG-15, F-86).
3rd gen, missile and integrated radar (F-4, MiG-21).
4th gen, multirole capability (F-16, Su-27).
5th gen (latest), stealth and fly by wire (F-22, J-20)
6th gen (indev), multi band stealth, integrated drone wingman (F/A-XX, F-X)

as the setting of this story, integrating the superpower of these people might lead to the next generation of fighters with potential upgrades including better maneuverability and countermeasures.

No,these for all combat aircraft in general.

Gen 1 are all pistons,because by the end of the day,nothing fundamentally changed amoung them.

Gen 2 are the jets that all still used guns,regardless of speed and wing sweep.

Gen 3 are missiles,the ability to actually hit beyond the horizon.

Gen 4 is fly by wire,making the jets unstable on purpose to make them manuver even better plus saving so much weight.

Gen 5 is stealth,which in some regards even negates what Gen 4s could be equipped with due to stealhs' limiting factors.

That list clearly flawed as being just for jets,because the F-86 has radar,neither it nor the MiG-15 can go supersonic without diving,swept wings existed long before jet engines,multirole has existed since the dawn of back seaters in scouts with shotguns who lobbed grenades,and fly by wire existed long before the F-22.

Lets see...

Piston engines,manual control surfaces attached to wires,kinetic point n' shoot weapons,subsonic,wood + metal for the most part,and leaded gasoline.

In large part,WWI pilots have looked at WWII planes and still recognise them,Hell,Polish pilots were basically flying WWI equivalents before being given Hurricanes and Spitfires.

As big as the advancements were during and between the wars for pistons,nothing was as impactful as a propulsion system that had great power outputs that simply outclassed all others once the teething was solved.

But the solution is to apply what Gen 4 has to Gen 1,we can easily say late war Gen 1s were "Gen 1+++++".
