Wow wow, why are you so hostile? This is the most ordinary silly harmless character's quirk, not even some "comedic" harassment. Moreover, I can argue that if it were a stereotypical prince-sh lesbian who flirted with every female character or even any character, then this did not cause you such hostility at all.

I admit that the gender does matter because even if he's changed to a prince type lesbian it doesn't change anything at all. So why bother to include man just to be her rival that seldom shows up in the series? Satisfied?

There is nothing edgy or douchy in him (not to mention the fact that the "pretentious" most common literary word, I do not know who "rolls eyes" there), this is the most ordinary ambitious shonen rival, which the author tried to make more memorable due to silly quirks. You just desperately look for the reason to justify the dislike of this dude in your eyes. And no, I do not defending him. I just want to say that such excessive hostility towards the characters because of their gender is ridiculous and clearly makes me remember how fujoshi loved to attack female characters simply because of the lack of a member in their pants.
