Does hep B infection work like that?

Also not a fan of medical drama relying on miracles as solution but I'm glad this one chapter has a happy ending.

So this is one where we’ve made pretty significant progress since this was written. Hep B is usually not a huge deal now and can be vaccinated for consistently.
Hep C is still very scary (basically it’s permanent like HIV)

Think of it as an event giving a patient very strong motivational boost, which in turn makes their immune system go overdrive and provide a cure. There are similar real cases in medical history, which can't be described as anything less than a miracle.

it really does work just by simple contaminated blood transaction like that. It was written in the 80s so it was a serious disease a long time ago, but yeah nowadays toddlers get Hep B vax early and most of the time adults can recover from acute hep B in 6 months iirc

I still remember being in elementary school in Canada in the early 2000s, just a few years after the Hep B vaccination programs began, and they played us this video in health class as a public awareness bit. To this day, I have not forgotten that Hepatitis B is a real bad rap.
