I guess the idea of author around this time is Garyou needs more relationship, which is why the story is not very on point. Maybe he up for something, but for now I don't see these story have to do with later chapter much.
Like, if you skip the first 10 pages, it's like a separated story, with an introduction, problem to solve, how to solve and the after math.
