So it ends like this. Kinda wanted to have a proper epilogue.

Barely exciting and completely unsatisfying. The only thing it has going for it is atmosphere.

I can't recommend this to anyone. A lot of uninteresting and boring dialogues, a lot of the time the characters repeat themselves and next to the end almost everything they say makes no sense at all. And we didn't even get a proper ending, one of those "use your imagination" endings. 3/10

manga is actually very good
the atmosphere is so thick you can feel it pouring from screen
plot is decent enough, characters are likeble
ending lacks some finishing, but its not like it was cancelled or anything

man took me a decade to understand this ending
last pages are showing some time in future after the volcano, we can see the crater and lights, meaning humanity survived, as probably main heroes

I still don't get what people expected out of this going in to be disappointed by the ending. it was pretty clearly steering in that direction even from the first arc - dark and light sides of humanity through times of extreme struggle and all that. The characters pretty much only existed to serve the narrative message so they're all a bit half-baked. The ending is kinda way too on-the-nose with the message though, like the author was worried people wouldn't "get it" after 88 chapters of the stuff, so they ended up hammering you over the head with it.

I guess maybe if you were in it for the sake of romance between the main characters, maybe that's grounds to be pissed? I dunno.

I liked this a lot more a few years ago than I do now, but it's still a really good series top to bottom. Successfully captures that specific, sickening feeling of an unavoidable natural disaster. Awesome art, too.

When faced with fear, true human nature manifests.
This is actually good. It’s a story about human nature and how fear affects us. The main characters are realistic and believable to me, not some heroes or something. Don’t expect too much, just enjoy it for what it is.

All those fear talks were really annoying and felt unnecessary imo. Regardless, the manga itself is a decent read if you like apocalyptic genre.

I rated it 4 because it sucks when they are underground at the beginning and mainly because there's no fucking end or decent explanation. I'm kinda new to mangas but I'm already sick and tired of mangas with no ending or explanations. I've read like 10 mangas and 9 of them are like that.

The story is ok, it's about earthquake, tsunami, volcano, like any "dystopian" manga story is. The female, as always, wanna save even the monsters. 70% of the story is about "fear" and "darkness" (apparently these are the only words they can think of) The other 30% is the main character saying "daddy mummy sissy" like it isn't obvious they are all dead since the first chapter. Philosophy bullshit that get's old after the first volume and keeps being forced forever. The army people with big guns can't handle the crazy kids with spears, saying "they are too well armed". The heli pilot had a bazooka for NOTHING.

And as always, no ending or decent explanations. Almost zero gore, horror or proper explicit violence (even tho I found this while searching for gore, violence, horror, disturbing content). Cheers on wasting my time. I was really hooked, even with all the bullshit philosophy, but the lack of ending ruined everything.
Worse "ending" than this, only every single manga by Junji Ito (the guy is simply unable to explain stuff).

But after all this rant, still, this manga is the best I've read so far. That's how low the quality of disturbing mangas have been since I started reading it.
