On one hand, that's extremely weak that Lily is allowed to live after a FATAL WOUND. Erect snouts are supposed to signify dead aliens, and he had a chunk of his head bitten off. Dumb guy is too stupid to die apparently.

As far as the story told, they escaped here to earth as the last resort, hoping a better life (which, I admit has a lot of unfairness for human). They were bullied too, but at least not to the point of making them want to do suicide. My bad, my comment should have said "didn't survive". Posted it while a bit groggy late at night, my bad.
Iglaskar, Nomamoto, Backbone and Kitami survived while Kitsch died. Lily fled from the scene with a kidnapped Haruo.
