That's Sword. The Princess's father. They've mentioned him a few times but only shown him in couple of panels in flashbacks. He was supposed to have died, with the Princess's mother, 14 years ago while fighting the oder. It does get hard to keep track of so many characters, tbh.

If Pansylvania manages to kill the Mayan bodyguard, it's not a bad outcome for them. Mad Sword Emperor, Carbina Mayan for duke Emilio, whom the king considered a failure. I doubt the king gives a shit about all the nameless Pansylvanian people who died.

Thanks for the clarification, looks like he was mentioned/introduced back during Duke Cold's flashback.

Maybe it has to do with how they're named, and the design of the characters that they're starting blend to another that I sometimes can't remember who a character is.

No problem. I actually just finished binging this a few days ago, so most of it is still kinda fresh for me. After a series gets 160+ chapters it does get hard to remember everyone. Especially if you're, like me, and reading many mangas 😅. I have to ask for refreshers sometimes, too.

Medis was already feuding with her brother back home, who was an unwitting pawn of the cult, over combat ideologies that neither of them seemed to actually adhere to. That's what the tournament arc at the school was about.

b/c it has aright art, and you want to see how convoluted it can get. At least that is why I keep coming back, it is like a wreck you can not look away from.

At this point, I can believe that it's actually the brother. This manga has done way worse in terms of deus ex machina, revelations, and power-creeps that a person believed to be dead actually being alive isn't all that implausible.
