god damn, I didn't expect my joke comment from last chapter to become true (not word for word, but by meaning).
I expected as much. I mean... think about this from Kaisara's perspective and imagine being in that kind of society. Kaisara is a tough woman, a ruler and she has to keep her country in mind. And a princess is, essentially a tool for politics.
Akira is unprecedented and in aristocratic societies you want to secure an invaluable asset like him by all means. Force wouldn't work on him, he'd retaliate or run. And the queen already failed to bind Akira's father, a mistake she does not want to repeat. She needs to make sure that Akira stays loyal to the country and how would a ruler do that?
Ideally by binding him through marriage. The minimum is to secure his unmatched bloodline. Kaisara has to decide which of the princesses she would order to get Akira's seed or, even better, make him join the royal family. For this task the girl needs to have a breedable, attractive body, the necessary skills to get a baby made and she must agree to fulfill that duty for the greater good. Given how Medis acted, being infatuated with Akira, the queen thought it was a given and love works better than force... but as nothing happened, she has to put some pressure behind it.
Some would call that creepy, but that's how it works. Failure is not an option. Medis and Akira are childhood friends, but if Medis is unwilling or too awkward to produce results, then Kaisara would order the First Princess to go after him. For those who have forgotten - first princess
Ursula Stromheim is not just anyone. She was one of Akira's mother candidates, so she's quite a bit older than him. My pet theory on this is that if Akira had chosen Ursula, then Kaisara in that timeline might have managed to win over Carl Rainford by having Ursula married to him. Wouldn't be too far fetched, but we will never know.
