TBH if the father had accepted it, he'd be of a similar rank anyway... Unless it's a hereditary title kind of kingdom... (IIRC some fantasy manga has it 3 generation nobles unless you, the 3rd gen, managed to accumulate achievements)

You would think he'd do that much, but no, it continues to disappoint at showing basic reactions. It's like they force the "teenage" in this 30+ y/o dude. He clearly knows the hardships of life and negotiation. I am not sure if the MC is meant to be Mr. dumb-fucking-dimwits or the author intentionally wants to upset the audience by failing basic human behavior class. MC with barely any personality.
