I am confused, why is it in this chapter, Senshi kinda just doesn't listen to chilchuck advice and just steps on trap, like it's nobody's business. Was the author simply just following an archetype or was Senshi just being plain stubborn?

this is my first time reading this manga so i can’t compare him to how he is later on. but i gathered that he just doesn’t read social cues very well. he’s probably used to working alone since he’s been doing this for a decade.

Traps are underutilized in RPG game design

Some RPGs allowed traps to be in your party though. If not as a good damage or support class, traps are useful as monster bait.
