The way things work out are a little undercut by how unnecessary the contributing parts were.
1. She could totally visit earth. She'd just have to wear a reverse space suit. It'd be difficult to make, but the motivation of meeting an alien would work for scientists and government both. And sure, the guy would have to let others know about her, but if she was gonna leave anyway otherwise, this is still better.
2. Why the hell was that guy carrying a weapon? Like, for what? What did he expect?
But since it was at least a hopeful ending, rather than a contrived tragedy, those don't drag it down too much.
