I am really actually quite upset that they didn't kill that hacker. Not only did he try to kill them, but he DID commit genocide upon the whole of Digitalis' AI people.
This isn't even a thing about revenge, but someone like that will not hesitate to do the same sort of thing again - blow up ships and kill all their crew for minor slights, and all they've done is scare the shit out of him one time, not even getting him arrested.
