I get it, it just feels like if the author wanted Nicole to act like a kid, why give her memories of her past life in the first place? Why not make Reid a ghost who follows his reincarnation around or something?

@monkey123 doesn't that one have her also act like a kid more cause her physical brain is more child like despite having the adult "spirit/soul/memories" from when she was playing games in a world based on ours? :p

Seriously? He is a super cool assassin, and he still runs around wildly to the point he gets leashed at 7 years old?! I was already wondering why the hell he were so bad at fighting despite being stronger than the hero in his past life, but at this point I am more wondering how he survived so long back then.

@feha
This assassin got a bird brain. He/she doesn't know how to build muscles.
MC: "Fuck why am I so weak?"
Me: Dude you probably didn't eat enough and avoided breast milk! Sucks for you!
No problem boys. Plot armor will save our weak MC.

@feha
I was already wondering why the hell he were so bad at fighting despite being stronger than the hero in his past life.
1. He was not stronger than Lyel in direct 1v1 confrontations. While he was a good fighter, he was an assassin and made good use of stealth, traps, and his mythril wire + specialized gauntlet for using said wires. Though he also fought with swords somewhat.
2. The idea that's she's a bad fighter is silly. She knows how to fight, but you can't overlook the critical importance of the skeletal/muscular system. Nicole now has the body of a little girl, and an unusually frail one at that. Being able to fight better equipped full grown men at all under those conditions is quite impressive. If anything you should be criticizing how unrealistic that is.
3. Nicole runs around because she's not content to act like the typical little girl. Wants to hunt, to train, etc. From the perspective of others, she's simply reckless. And besides you're supposed to take the leash as comedy anyhow...

As for that physical frailty, they'll get to the reason soon-ish. But if you want to know -
the issue is Nicole's body is excessively abundant in mana. A doctor determines she isn't expelling it normally, and it builds up too far causing problems for her body. The previous body had basically none. Yuri (that god) will later explain that the soul is not really a good fit for a body overflowing in it. But there is something to be done about it, and that will happen soon-ish. Though recovering from this won't be instant like some instant cure potion. It will be gradual. Nicole will also find other ways to compensate for her body's deficiency. But be assured she won't be weak forever. She'll eventually become pretty badass of course.

edit: also to @monkey123
There is a deeper reason why Nicole is so weak still. In the spoiler if you want it. Also that god will be appearing often, but not to "save the day" mostly. I find it an amusing factor, though in this case it clearly was interference.

No @Kampfarsch. Im just randomly typing shit into the bubbles as I see fit. In fact I don't event undestand a word of japanese...

/sarcasm

and she IS a 7 year old kid. There's no getting around that. A kid's brain is far from fully developed, so to me it makes sense that she behaves like a kid. I find it more refreshing compared to other manga where the reincarnated person is magically as mature as their former adult self. There are more clues in the WN than the manga, but anyone who would just run out onto the road seems pretty immature to me.

@bk3k Nah, post reincarnation him is weak. "oh no, I am a thread user, but I have never before encountered someone who steps on my threads to disable them! Or if I have, then I haven't found a way to deal with the problem!"
Regarding 3, if she just wanted to be active then she wouldn't end up leashed. He would talk to the ppl around her to get what he wants, or if not that, then do it in a way that doesn't make ppl fear for her safety. Hell, he is an adult super cool assassin, he could probably do it all without them noticing!

I wasn't referring to her physical stats when I said weak, it is somewhat understandable for him to be weak as a kid, particularly considering she didn't drink enough milk as a baby. No, I was talking about how weak he is in a fight, despite having multiple op skills, great training for 2 of them, and the third he used to be so skilled with it that he outclassed the hero by far (by so much that he had to sacrifice his life!).

a 7 year old wouldnt try to stop a kidnapping operation on their own ending with a 3on1 fight against adults
a 5 year old wouldnt fight beastmen in a forest killing one by SNAPPING ITS NECK WITH HER LEGS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE UNDERDEVELOPED

you can explain anything by just saying "oh is their age" or "well they were scared and people act irrational sometimes"
but its really just this mangas shit writing

tfw you have to get the tn note to reinforce yeah the mc is a 'weak' child but also confirming they're also a dumbass that has little wisdom through reincarnation. There have been other isekai where they revert to children and they're not 'op' but I've never seen a manga with such a common reader response is, 'why is the MC like this?' and why can't adapt within their bounds and not being able to back up their dumb shit with their previous experience with their tactics/skills .etc

@feha: The guy stepping on the threads is something new for the manga. The problem in the WN is that she simply couldn't slip a thread through his defenses. She's using weak cotton threads here, not Reid's mithril threads that could have just sliced the guy up.

Also, you call her weak in a fight, but she killed two armed adult men before facing the armored guy.

She's really NOT supposed to be "just a kid" mentally though. EDIT: Reid has made a point of not being influenced by his body's physical situation several times, up to and including forgetting to use a female pronoun and switching to 'ore' mid-sentence. You can't blame the readers when the manga itself can't provide a consistent baseline for what Nicole's personality is like.

@Kampfasch ill admit that theres some bad writing here n there. Im currently reading the authour's first work Hakai Me no Yuuri, and theres some bad writing / plot holes there too. That said, Nicole's habit of running of to find trouble is a bad habit as a result of her having the knowledge of her past life as Reid, as if merely having knowledge gives you skill and ability...

Nicole is just dumb.

@Deathhappens I guess you gotta try and see things from the protagonist's perspective. Nicole is a kid, but because she has the memories of her former life she THINKS she is not just some kid. The manga doesnt make it so obvious but in the WN there are more clues. She enjoyed running around and playing with the village kids even though she thought she wouldnt for example. And she enjoys being pampered and praised like any other kid, and love sweets. She swiped her dad's alcohol (the really good stuff too), took one sniff and passed out, not liking the taste.

There are a few others that I can't recall, but I believe that the author is trying to convey that Nicole is very much a kid mentally, she just doesn't realise/can't accept it because she thinks of herself as an adult.

@mimisan Well, maybe if that context was present in the manga, it would all make more sense.
But it's not, so people are right to complain.
