Hiding in the water is a typical but unrealistic manga trope
Still does it anyway

Looks at the series description.

I too am very upset about the reincarnated hero from another world not being realistic, whats next? he starts using magic?

I know you people are Redittors because this is the kind of galaxy brain level comments one can expect from that lot ...

Being in story with fantasy elements doesn't excuse the characters being dumb and/or acting irrationally. That's just bad writing and has nothing to do with the genre.

I already read the following chapter already so I going to point this out.

The purpose of this scene is for him to hear that she likes him and she makes it very clear about it, you can argue about "being dumb" but that is the purpose of it so all those "I would just do ..." are dumb because then the scene have no purpose to exist, its something that would be irrelevant and thus superfluous.

And this is really one of the issues, its screaming at the tree because they cant see the forest or even looking for the forest as they too busy screaming at the tree.

Also I see a larger issue, he is entirely submerged underwater as they are just sitting in the tub, its like physics arent even applying consistently but hey, I let that slide because its a minor detail and I understand the purpose of the scene ... Unlike Redditors that must be perpetual mad about things, I am not sure if anime was a mistake but social media certainly was.

Read between the lines here, folks. Manga loves having characters do or say one thing while they secretly desire the opposite.

Is that Grandpa a sleepy and careless buffoon? No way, he's 100% aware and wants to mess with teenagers. He's an ecchi wingman.

Is the MC a dumbass who couldn't choose how to correctly get out of his situation? No, he's a greedy teen who chose to stay IN the lewd situation.

the author should think of a way to arrange for this without breaking any semblance of verisimilitude the scenario has
like, you know, a good writer would. instead of railroading this idiotic scenario like a bad writer would :shamihuh: every bad writer has some goal they want to reach with their dumb plot twists, what even is this argument?

The first chapter was promising, but it seems this manga quickly devolved into a cliche-fest. Any LN readers willing to give me spoilers on whether this gets any better or not? I'm losing my will to continue at this rate.

If the purpose of this scene is for him to hear she likes him, why set it in one of the most irrelevant locations possible?

There is no reason for this conversation to take place in a bathhouse over any other, far less contrived location other than him also seeing the girls nude. That's the purpose of the setting, and by extension a purpose of the scene.

People are complaining about this because it's a stupid, contrived, cliche event that everyone has seen a thousand times. It's fair to be frustrated by people just checking off a list of cliches for the umpteenth time.

She definitely won't but holy hell this one in particular is painful. Reiwa era should've brought us to a post losing heroine world.
The losing heroine is a trope created solely to have them lose.....

It's for useless drama and for the sake of making it a harem series even if it doesn't need to be

Of course it wouldn't be gone..... Authors need a lazy way to make us feel connected to the series.....

And Naruto showed us how shipping wars can actually be great for boosting the popularity of a series....

Probably nearing the peak point. I remember in the early 2000s one of my friends complained that childhood friend ALWAYS win. :p

You mean she should say that when he was right next to her?

Since we want to play this game, she told that in private when nobody else was around, she did that because in the next chapter she says at the same time, its to giver her a push but if she doesnt act, someone will take him ... like her, that means she is willing to give her "rival" a push but still hopes he picks her.

What other locations? either he wouldnt be present or she wouldnt engage in this conversation, its a "overhearing" cliche I seen many times before, you rather it was in a hot springs? but then we would get into the argument about if she would say anything if there was a chance of him overhearing and there wouldnt be at the very least for the part she talked to herself.

Also we seen again and again, hot baths and springs are common used for socializing so there is nothing strange about this, its all about some people not liking the place for reasons, you rather nothing happened at all? I will say there is a rather interesting bomb dropped at the end of next chapter that kinda explains why this taken place before it.

if you've ever been in a hot tub, you'd know that they usually have this sort of raised floor going all around the edges of the tub and forming this sort of bench for you sit on. I assume that that's what's happening here.

The main issue with this entire scene—beyond being painfully generic and uninspired—is how easily it could have been avoided. The author could have simply followed a classic setup: the MC accidentally enters the women’s bath, realizes the mistake too late, and, upon hearing the girls coming in, instinctively hides underwater to avoid being labeled a pervert. This well-worn trope has been used effectively in countless other manga. However, in an attempt to be 'different' and innovate, the author ended up turning what could have been a passable, cliché-ridden moment into an outright terrible one.

Author’s been backtracking on the premise a bit. He stated himself that really didn’t feel as much as the average person due to remembering his past life. Then why tf is he hiding instead of explaining things?
