Look... there's aloof, and then there's just outright stupid - the MC can't even pretend that he doesn't recognise that his childhood friend loves him, in fact, he already heard her confess.
So why is the status quo being kept exactly the same? Either let her down, or reciprocate, don't have this big 'revelations' revealed and then just ignore them.
