There's no way this is having a satisfying ending. But of course it's an adaptation so it's going to be one of those "read the LN to find out what actually happened!" endings, except this has been so bland that I can't imagine it driving anyone to actually read the LN.

What does Cyril possess that he can blackmail that traitor elf with? The imperials have his wife, Cyril doesn't. The idiot will work for anyone willing to blackmail him, regardless of how untrustworthy the promises are. The humans collect elves to extract the heart for the magic crystal, so unless the dude's wife can live without a heart, she's long dead. But he just believes them and is willing to betray the whole village. The humans would have zero reason to keep their promises in the first place. If they win, all the elves are slaves again. Why would you need to keep your promises to a slave? They would just capture Laffa and harvest his heart as well. He would be reunited with his wife in heaven. He's a plain old idiot. He won't be much of a double agent.

To be fair, the manga is, but seems a lot like a go reed the novel end vs a real end.
Also as a group leader you should really never discourage conversation and engagement.
