Man, what the hell actually happened to the artist that for all practical purposes they have to retire?

Though now has me thinking about how The Demon Girl Next Door (Machikado Mazoku) has been on hiatus for like a year and half now because that artist also has an ongoing health crisis.

Well, hope things go well for them.

I mean, it was mid. Good drawing, but the story pretty much a nothingburger. Don't know why you guys are disappointed it's axed
Wholesome premise combined with it not being yet another "betrayed by stupid incompetent co-workers" or "isekai'd pedophile acquires child slaves" story.

The story didn't need to be anything special to still be a breath of fresh air amidst a vast cloud of rancid slop.

Thank you for the translation, but with the chapter count not even reaching double digits, I don't think this is worth reading even when I liked the premise and art.

I also think that the manga should've just been in haitus till the mangaka's health improves.
Most mangaka aren't lucky enough to have that option when starting a new manga. If their health fails this early into a series, it usually gets canceled.

Ruri Dragon is an exception due to how ridiculously well the first volume sold. It was outselling BNHA's current volume when it dropped. If Ruri Dragon hadn't sold that well it would've also gotten canceled.

Can they not even go a year or two on hiatus though? To get greenlit just to cancel like that dang
Might be an indication of how bad their health got suddenly. Sucks but life is rough and maintaining a regular publishing pace while dealing with health stuff is fucking ROUGH.

Sucks about the cancellation but I hope the artist can recover from whatever they're dealing with eventually. Prefer them to live comfortably.

Unlikely maybe but not impossible. I've seen it happen with another manga adaption of a WN, 'The Misdeeds of an Extremely Arrogant Villain Aristocrat'.

That's why I DIDN'T say "impossible" or "all mangaka." And instead said "most" because that is in fact the case, sadly.
