They're already sacrificing a god, now with the array acting like a channel to possess others, I'm really coming up blank on any way out of this without the collapse of most of the gods.
Reminds me of the death mage story, where the demon King invaded the world and killed almost everyone (20k pop left), and most of the gods were killed (demon king) or sealed (rival gods), so they had to ascend humans to fill in what gaps in authority they could.
