Can someone explain the issue with the gifts?

Same, I don't get about the gift part. I thought they are sending the gifts to MC to kind of show the crown princess that they've changed sides and are kind of promoting the crown princess to be more aggressive in attacking the MC. So maybe if the gifts were send to the MC, then the crown princess would be even more mad since she lost her battle(? she essentially lost military control or something to the MC), lost her lover to MC, and then would lose her lover's family support if the gift were send to the MC, since her title as crown princess is threatened. I'm not sure tho, that's what I'm thinking.

In regards to the gifts i think she's trying to sow discord between our female lead and the Li family so that FL becomes under the prime ministers control (as she will be her only backing then)
