It's bad but it's nothing unusual for a common westerner to dislike manga, some popular mangas in Japan are hated in the west, same as some works that we collectively like are axed way faster than would like.
It got axed in country of origin for the same reason i liked it (one part i liked). It has shown common Japanese reader and why they like typical MC's. Through the words of a girl it unveiled why these MC's are popular and how truly pathetic they are, by the same definition author threw shit at readers
.
Yeah, good read. The comment about self-deprecation being nothing more than a form of attention seeking, it touched me to the core when pathetic behaviour is being unmasked. Or MC's comment about creating a virtuous hero because otherwise he will be hated by readers. And because virtue is subjective you just pour all virtuous traits un to the pathetic MC, that way it will be hard to hate the MC and almost anyone can self-insert.
As the troll media i like it, as a content to read and become a fan? Not really. I think the more jabs are thrown towards unmasking the quicker it will be that the tone will change of common MC's. There was a time when imbecilic, perverted and cowardly MC's were the main stream then it changed to dense, losers, who are perverted in their minds but too weak to act, cowardly and buzz kills. Basically losers became popular as main stream MC's they are always good 'n kind but indecisive and self-deprecating. Their harems are big but they do not engage with harem members as with women, mostly as friends because otherwise it will be seen as sinful thus will be hated by some readers. Though even if MC will change some traits will be left from previous generations. Like from previous generations some traits were were morphed into the current generation.
