Isn't duels different from murder? Its legal (usually) combat to the death or otherwise defeat (though this could depend on where the duel takes place and why) and murder is an illegal killing (usually without much combat involved). Or is the hero describing it as murder in his part because how strong he is compared to the opponent (thus is a one sided engagement) and/or these duels are done with the intent to get rid of the person?

hmm I think it's more of his current state of mind where he thinks that killing somebody in a duel is no different than murder
