It's always hard for someone to do a parody of a premise that is already inherently extremely silly or dumb because you can't differentiate between the work legit trying to be a piss-take and one that is earnest in its insanity. I honestly can't tell for sure that this is a gag because it would not surprise me one bit for an author to play this concept completely straight.
