Same thing happened to me...
I was doing dead lifts and because I pushed my self way too hard I hurt my back real bad, didn't go to the doctor but I stopped going to the gym, my back still hurts 2 years later if I try to do heavy things...
I don't do deadlifts. It's just so laughably easy to blow your back out and hurt yourself severely. To quote Robert Oberst: "The risk/reward-ratio (for deadlifts) is a joke"
