Why is it always the hentai artists that always pull the deep meaningful shit out? U ever notice that?
They already roped you in with the promise of tiddies, so they can do whatever they want afterwards

I've stuck with this partly just to see if it was ever going anywhere. Frankly this manga has not earned this kind of twist. To much filler. I've been skipping most of the dialogue for the last ten chapters because it did nothing to advance the plot.

Advance the plot about a comic focussed on how diets and exercise changes the body?

With a seconary aspect of re-evaluating oneself?

Well,that's happening now!

Dude was molested by his sister as a child and mostly represses the events while continuing to live with her (it's possible the sister does too). Chick has severe body dysmorphia. Most of this manga is composed of two very traumatized human beings interacting and trying to glean meaning from their experiences. All of this is disguised with hentai body proportions and fat guy jokes because this would be a very hard fucking sell without the layer of levity the author tries to inject throughout the chapters.

I can't imagine the original Japanese as easy to parse or work with. Thanks for the translation!
Thanks for the explanation. Appreciate it 🙏

I’m sorry but goddamn there is little to no handle for this goddamn manga. Meaning I have no idea where to try and situate myself in understanding or appreciating it, thus I’m left feeling like it would actually be better if there was no text at all. Sounds a bit insulting but no really, LOOK at the actual direction and composition of the images. They convey a sense of SOMETHING that is clear and interpretable yet honestly if it was the images alone, people would make up their own stories but in every story a certain cadence of character could and would be established.
The current dialogue just confuses me though. It feels like an alien who is emulating a best selling/highest rated sitcom, you know? There are inside jokes but they tend to come across as obtuse. There is banter but the shifts in the conversation feel like they are not in ‘quite' the right places. The emotional connection is like “Trying to twist a round handle with a coating of lube or is it lotion, but what’s the need to discern between them? Oh right. Yeah, context.” Legit in those quotes encapsulates this writing.

Why is one of the option is game but no game, and the other is bacon but all bacon
technically one of the option is all games but they are all 3 person AAA cinematic story based slop, and the other is all games but they are only 3.5 stars indie games all under 30 bucks

It's like, a manga about exercise and nutrition can be interesting. A manga about body image issues can be interesting. A manga about sexual assault can be interesting. But when you make a manga that's like 95% technical drivel about exercise and nutrition, then sprinkle in some vague references to the latter two once ever 10 chapters as if it's super important, then, I dunno, it's just boring and annoying. The pacing is just terrible.

Page 4, about Mitsuha's comment on mishearing:
Japanese word for hug: 抱く(daku) and its て form = 抱いて(daite)
Japanese word for cooking (rice): 炊く(taku) and its て form = 炊いて(taite)

So she misheard 炊いて(taite, cooking rice) for 抱いて (daite, hugging).

Flies away on Itsuha's magical, toned butt

Okay so this suddenly got super interesting. One character has obvious body dysmorphia and the other has a eating disorder as a response from a past sexual assault. From his sister. When he was even younger.
