@Yamibi He played into provocations, crippled people some of whom had fine motives, and generally used his power to blithely crush people in he way. All I see is waste of potential in himself and what he brings into the world (other than out fledgling MC).

None had fine motives. All that he killed where the assasins send by his first brother. Some seeked revenge unjustly, some just wanted to test their strength. In this world they were prepared for death and he left them only a criples.
Like I said before. You need to see the martial world as it is, with its law. You cant impose your belives and laws of the world you live on them or you get distorted view (thats why demoracy wont always be best choice for some cultures).

@Yamibi he doesn't even try to explain what's going on, aggravating a bunch of people (some bad some good), purposely to make them hostile to him. Well I know this is Xianxia/Xianhua story, everybody is a lunatic, even the main characters. Some author have pretty good reasoning but some other just want to write a kick ass OP MC acting arrogant and provocative vs stupid arrogant young masters/masters while making the MC seemingly just while he's actually the biggest lunatic of all.

@Kuraiaku Being heavy handed in your response to people attacking you is not unjust lol. you can say its not necessary, or not pragmatic, but unjust to kill people who are aiming to assassinate you? no. unjust to punish people who want to kill you for their own revenge? no. you say he doesn't try to explain but theres nothing to explain, their disciples tried to kill him for various reasons, and they want to seek revenge for their deaths. do you think if he says "lawl they assassins tho" they're gonna just accept it? you think if they were stronger than him he would even have the chance to speak?

ultimately he's stronger than them, so he doesn't have to reason with them, and their inability to see that is their own fault. that's how these stories go, did you expect him to call the police? these stories are about people practicing fighting and trying to raise their strength, the fact that they're gonna use that to settle disputes is pretty obvious.
