At some point it looked like the monster had died, and the kid was turning into one. But suddently a flashback says that "their only weakness is light" he looks at the sun? And them BAM, he is on his back on a tree, the monster is crawling towards him. And then, then this horrific monster becomes a waifu.

What the actual fuck is happening.
