I figure the point is more that he didn't let himself get destroyed inside about it. He told the guy no to his offer and went to reflect on how beautiful the stars are after getting his shit kicked in. He's over it. Considering he got jumped by some guy's posse and really didn't have a chance, I'd say he's taking it pretty well.

Tbh I'm surprised that he didn't have any superhuman strength and that he couldn't just beat them up alone. That dream part kinda gave the impression that maybe their bodies are above human also. Not really sure if this is the better or worse for him being a guy you can gang up on..

Also I thought that their confidence (/chill attitude) to travel into past/different cultures, was that they are able to fend themselves if needed. Now it just makes it seem that every trip to past is extremely risky and a gamble, for them not meeting bad people who might want to fe. murder/rape or do something else as horrendous to them.
