@AiriAi and others like them: grow up. Learn how to cope with your favourite/liked/whatever works being criticised. I understand being mad at peeps who yell all the time about how MC is stupid 'coz they doesn't understand or notice every little thing, but criticism of a one dimensional, boring character
is valid.
And, well. Can we stop with "bad dude is bad 'coz he rapes" all the time? Using a very real thing that happened and happens to lots of people, that is fucking traumatising and throws people into depths of despair; using it as a plot device, to show how a character is oh so strong 'coz they got over it quickly or how another is so cool and a hero 'coz they saved them... it's not right. And, if you have to, then throw in a content warning ffs (tbh this is both to authors
and groups translating works like that. Inb4 someone goes "oh but it was obvious and implied, you should know better!" - no, a scene where a character is nearly raped/raped was not implied and there was no need to show it. Stick a content warning on it.)
Implications in earlier chapters, ba, they're nearly
shouting out loud about that, were quite enough. No need for a scene of the bad guy harming a character. Frankly, even showing those poor drugged up women was not needed. We know he's the bad guy, we already know he's a rapist and a corrupt piece of shit. That's enough.
I kinda had hopes for this one, 'coz MC seemed strong and capable and I'm a sucker for her shoulder-length hair self, but here she still needs a man to help her (who is, btw, a very incompetent ruler and a low-key genocidal piece of shit who "has to unify" the whole continent. Imperialistic scum.)
