Why bother weakening the MC only to give him a boost later? Its not like he was invincible before.

Not sure why they decided to weaken him so abruptly with no real explanation.
He wasn't born to kill humans nor did his power derive from his desire to (it was just the culmination of all of his past lives, a lot of which never even came into contact with humans).
He was thinking about the warmth of his mother while technically helping someone getting assaulted that he first used them.
