You haven't checked out already?
I think Im hate reading at this point. Part of me enjoys it, but also part of me hates it. Like it has so much potential. Honestly at this point the artist/manga artist is carrying it hardcore. The social commentary I find annoying and way too preachy, like, man, I get it; stop repeating the same shit.

Dude, I don't think I can agree more with you, I 100% only care cause it's so bad, I'm literally reliving late part 2 CSM, it's good because it's "developing" (is it?) characters (just like CSM P2 again), the art is too good for the story, I wish this artist worked on something else like MAD (not that MAD's bad, but if it could've kept it's style, had more detail, amazing)

Social commentary is weird, on one hand you have him being raped, then you have him being lied to and accused of cheating (then having sex, then guilt-tripping over that), then the liar is shown to be a full blown unaccountable pervert, and, the Mentor's ex was like raped by priests, then the ex kisses a girl in front of him, then fights him?
I'm not sure what the takeaway is supposed to be, all of that could've been avoided if no one sought sex... right?
(Liar is complete 180 from past 100 chapter, took 4 years for ch100, all blown away in 11 chapters)

It's very "gay is okay" (every other major character is gay, irl it's like 10% of people)
(might be accidentally very damaging to have so many bad characters be bi, aren't a lot of gay reveals also the same reveals of something bad, like Mentor's ex (kissing a girl in front of him, then fighting), Asmodeus's past girl love (same part the raping demon lord tries to rape mmc again), fmc's bi "ex" (working at whorehouse, lying to mmc, then bi ex "kills" him?))

and every fight is the same jobber vs mmc
I do forget what it preached besides love is sin, sex good, rape bad, gays good(?), and church bad, maybe because it was so boring I didn't pay attention, or that is all it preached about

Oh yea, it's also got so much potential, but so far has delivered none of it, ch100 was a perfect spot for something to happen (finally, he has sex with her? so something happens? the copout could be they used a condom, but ch111 ruins that, if they don't have glass windows they don't have condoms, what could've happened is the very basic, she finally gains power, and from him of anyone, the seemingly most powerful human, so it changes her in an unprecedented way, or it even backfires onto him, anything, literally ANYTHING), but it keeps relying on things which have already happened, nothing happens, everything's happened, it's a horrible story theme
-Lucifer is perfect example of wasted potential, writing such a shit clairvoyant is impressive (is he the ONLY one?)
-Sloth could've meant something, meant nothing (What was gained? So the sloths in his soul and his sloth plushies get explained... and? there's also the "girlboss" moment of sloth "guy just can't get enough, awooga hummina hummina" it easily could've led to some consequence of ANYTHING)
-His rape trauma looks to be "solved", could easly make commentary how no victim ever fully heals (Probably won't, it'll probably actually pull a retarded "I'm not scared of you anymore", like holy fuck)
-Fmc could've taken accountability of the past, so she develops into a regret-harbouring demon, evolution or ANYTHING (maybe paired with ch100 transforms her into an angel)
-Baba could've been a decent character than just "whore" "bi" "raped" "loves fmc", like how is she special? Comparing her to mmc worsens her, just makes her less unique, having her already established with fmc ruins the "first encounter" dynamic that could've happened, it's again a "Happened, not happens" theme
("Wow, you're just like this person I know", unique? no)
(Also probably a "men evil" social commentary, could've had a woman watch the rape then turn away, building towards bystander effect and women unaccountability, already present with fmc)
(If it's going for Asmodeus saw her past love in him, and lost him, and fmc sees him as her past love, then we can assume fmc'll lose him (Predictive, boring, and contriving hatred towards fmc by retconning ch3/38/40/45/100 for ch111 was just not worth it, you don't permanently ruin a main character 111 chapters into a story, this is unbelievably basic, you have to be unbelievably retarded))
-etc (Greed is so basic, I can't even remember Gluttony, is her art going to mean anything? is it just a trait)
I want to see it end, the two points I'm genuinely curious about are
-mmc heart being locked up
-girl frozen in hell Satan was with
My guess is mmc didn't actually fall in love (I really don't want him attached to this retard), and girl frozen is just Satan's love, I reckon it's just Lilith, the original Succubus, then there's gonna be the whole "You and I aren't so different" to mmc, as he's also been very "wrathful", he solves everything with fighting
(Maybe Lilith is actually the "love demon", as it keeps saying love is the greatest sin, not the "lust demon" (as that's Asmodeus), so Satan's trying to unfreeze the love demon lord, but it's kept away by mmc's heart or something with the locks (I don't fucking know, nor care, love is not a sin, that'd be retarded, frankly))

If this is predictable, it's boring, and so far, it's been very boring
ch115+ We'll see him "come back three days later" or some shit (as in SHOCKER he's "dead", same as mentor), I expect something petty, like during that time lesbo ex has a bunch of sex with fmc, then he comes back and sees her enjoying it, that'd track for this story (as we've seen, without him, she's just a whore), and then, maybe, finally, he kills both of them, what would be crazy is a "How could I do this" from him, that'd be such an eyeroll I could see it happening
(His heart being locked up could be related to fmc "waiting for the one", maybe her heart's locked up too)
(Wasn't his power gone or something? So when he revives he'll gain it back (I didn't read past ch100, just skimmed))

YES YES! Fucking exactly. There's so much social commentary, especially shitting on men whenever they can. So we get MC who is literally like the perfect househusband and protector. Then we get FMC who is lazy and selfish; she just sits at home every day drawing, while MC does all the household responsibilities and protects her. Then we get the author injecting social commentary on how fucked up gender roles have been throughout the years. And I can't help but think, ok... So what's the message you're trying to present when you can't even apply what you preach to your main characters? If they weren't so preachy, it wouldn't bother me, but now since they seem like they need to comment on social commentary and gender roles, now I'm overanalyzing how they represent both male and female characters in the story. Like Imuri, I actually dislike her; almost can't stand her as a character. And I think the author tries to make us sympathize with her but also writes her in a way that it's hard to sympathize with a character like that. I'm hoping the author tries to redeem her, but I have a bad feeling the author will let her slide by with very little redemption.

LOL yooo, it's like Sandman, that Netflix show. I remember watching it, and the first couple was gay, and I was like, "Ok, cool." Then almost every other character that was introduced was either gay or bi, and at some point I was like, "Alright." Statistically, this sort of outcome is rare, and if this world had these many gay/bi characters, it would fuck up the population drastically. And I stopped watching it because it felt like some weird lesbian fever dream rather than a complete story. Like you pointed out, the gay/bi population is extremely small, so to have a story with an extraordinary number of gay characters lessens the realistic aspects of the story and, in the process, ruins the story itself. It feels more like a college student's fantasy rather than a grounded person's lived experience. I hate to use the terms "woke" or "SJW," but this story is one of the most woke Japanese manga I've read in a while, and I think that's why I partially hate it. And it's not like I'm right-wing or anything; I'm left-leaning, but I can't stand the constant preaching and hypocrisy from the left side. It's not like I disagree with the message, but I hate seeing a message repeated without an answer or possible solution.

I've got more to say, and I'll read your comment again and respond to more of your points in the next day or so. Too drunk and tired at the moment. I've read some of your other comments regarding this series, and I do agree with a lot you have to say. Tokyo Ghoul had one of the best first virgin sex scenes in any manga I've read so far. That shit felt so relatable to my experience, and I loved it.

Holy shit my ramblings are vindicated
Yea it's funny Tokyo:re ch125 was solely drawn by the author, he didn't want anyone else touching it
(I guess I was sort of hoping for a Tokyo Ghoul out of this, combat and romance, tragedy and intimacy, care and trust)

Funny you're the second person that's said it's woke, I agree, honestly maybe I just don't care that much, but I never realised, he literally wore an apron in the kitchen, made a table's worth of food for her, and is exactly as you said the perfect protector*, then Baba's backstory is evil men rape her, she works at a brothel, did she expect prince charming? Well, fmc's client I guess was supposed to be that, I'm not sure how a priest goes to a brothel regularly and no one bats an eye, whatever

*Sexist person I knew said "as he should", that's all I can really think
(she uh, she got dumped after 5 years, not joking, it's actually crazy)

Tragedy works best when the character of highest care is killed in a way the viewer can trust they're dead, engagement needs trust, and reducing care ruins tragedy
(You don't want the viewer second-guessing whether they're actually dead, or the impact of it isn't as good, and you want them to care about them, so when they do die it's worth crying for)

We can't relate to her, and we can't understand her, there's really not a lot to care for, what little we cared for, ch100, was now reduced, so, what's special with her?
(Usually we relate to heroes, understand villains, and we can't do either for her, we understand Asmodeus more than her)
(If she's an immortal that's lived for centuries, she must've been doing something or it's just bad writing, she sat in a house for 10 years?, 100 years? no way, this might be a hint that he's not gonna be able to fall in love with her, she's just too different, and, I hope he gets to be with Asmodeus)
I imagine it's all to build up to a falling out, or him having to choose her over something else, like "Satan's plan" was to make him lose care for her, even then, it's all so contrived, why did she lie during ch3, then never bother to reveal what she does during missions? It seems like some "running away from self" shoujo female

She probably will get off scot-free, who knows
No rush on replying, this manga's a monthly I think
