not even gonna sugarcoat it bro, isekai is ruining the anime scene bro. All the new manga is either romance or some isekai where the mc is op and has harem, there’s rarely manga where they don’t and the ones where they don’t are hidden gems or are js forgot about.

I mean, for 'hidden gems' that implies it'd be underappreciated and it prolly costs more money to make an anime ep than a manga even if it got published/physical copies yet never localized, it's unlikely we'll get the ""next "Frieren" unless someone in the industry is passionate/powerful enough to pull strings or so

esp considering most end up as ads for the web/lightnovels

I'd love something of Ippo, but that's about a shoemaker so i imagine that'd be unlikely versus a live action b/c it might be cheaper to get the rights and sponsors (tho even with jdramas that are adapated from manga the current trend for that is foodie/cooking, like how the current trend for anime is isekai)

isekai is ruining the anime scene
so are we talking about anime or manga? I need to set the scope here

All the new manga is either romance or some isekai where the mc is op and has harem
new manga that you see being fan translated, you mean?
well, it's all about supply and demand

there are a lot of new promising fantasy manga
depends on where you look
things like Huck, Solte, Eden, or Luca are relatively new
not many, yes, but they exist

it's not that the "isekai" is the one ruining per se
it's supply and demand

and then suddenly calling it "fantasy is trash now"
to me is just like hating for the sake of hating

Every medium could be honestly described as rubbish, if we are being honest.
Games? Triple A, Asset Flips, Shovelware, etc...
Movies? Current Hollywood and the large amount of things we never even notice.
Music? For every Good Musician, there are thousands of Justin Bieber.
Literature? Just look in a supermarket at the bargain books section and behold the low-quality romance novels

If a market of an entertainment medium is big, you can expect 90% of it being filled with stuff that should never have been created, with the remaining 10% being the actual good stuff.
Old stuff being better is mostly a bit of a mix of Nostalgia, but also the fact that the 90% of stuff gets forgotten mostly and only the 10% are remembered.
When I wanted to LEGALLY ACQUIRE old games for my LEGAL LIBRARY OF IT, I noticed that for GBA alone, there are like hundreds of games with only a few actually decent to good.
