I know Jinguji can be hard-boiled, but he's not going to kill someone, even a demon (if that demon is cooperating with humans) just because. Also, he was away for 3 days, and depending on how far away, loses his supernatural strength.

Is this the demon, using an illusion, trying to trick the hero who he asked out into killing the main characters because they are determined to complete the quest given to them by the goddesses?

Or, if the demon really is dead, what did he say or do to get that reaction from Jinguji? Something is definitely not as it seems.
